Switch to Solar was founded in 2006 by Chris and Stephanie Graves.
Chris comes by his work in solar naturally having worked the bulk of his career in the independent power industry developing large-scale, natural gas-fired power plants in South America, China, the Caribbean and India. In that capacity he helped arrange over 3 billion dollars in project financing.
Prior to moving into independent power, Chris worked as a financial analyst in Hong Kong focusing on the Philippines and Indonesia. He is NABCEP certified, has a BA from Yale and a PhD in economics from the University of Maryland.
Stephanie, a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts, spent the first part of her career in San Francisco leading the creative side of new projects for the likes of CNET, Microsoft, E! online, and Oracle. Subsequently she moved to New York to direct the creative departments of high-tech startups in Silicon Alley.
They met while working for a technology start-up in New York city. After helping get the company off to a successful start, Stephanie and Chris decided not only to get married but launch out on their own to start a company together that they could both feel good about. They moved to the DC area and founded Switch in 2006.
Renewable energy and energy efficiency are their passions. Starting with solar, they plan to one day incorporate fuel cells in their product offerings and to expand into the area of building well designed, comfortable, resource efficient homes. In the meantime, they want to continue make going solar as easy and rewarding an experience as possible for their customers.
